We recently carried out a fencing replacement project in Ripley, Nottingham, where we removed existing deteriorated fencing and installed a new boundary fence using concrete posts, concrete gravel boards and wooden treated panels.

Our fencing company in Nottingham specialises in creating long-lasting boundary fences for residential properties. The combination of concrete posts and gravel boards with wooden panels provides the perfect balance between durability and a smart, pleasant appearance.

Existing Fencing Removal

Site Assessment

Before beginning the removal process, we conducted a thorough assessment of the existing fencing structure to determine the most efficient removal method. The old fencing had reached the end of its useful life and required complete replacement to restore the property's boundary security.

We identified the most suitable access points for machinery and materials, making sure that the removal process would cause minimal disruption to the customer's garden and neighbouring properties.

Fencing Removal Process

The existing fencing was carefully dismantled to avoid damage to surrounding landscaping and structures. All old posts were extracted from the ground, including any concrete footings that could interfere with the new installation.

We properly disposed of all waste materials in accordance with local regulations. The site was cleared and prepared for the new fencing installation, with particular attention paid to achieving level ground for the concrete posts.

New Garden Fencing Installation

Concrete Posts

The new fencing system was built around concrete posts, which provide superior strength and longevity compared to traditional wooden posts. Concrete posts are resistant to rot, insect damage and weathering, making them ideal for long-term boundary solutions.

Each post was carefully positioned and secured with appropriate concrete footings. The spacing between posts was precisely calculated to accommodate the panel dimensions whilst maintaining structural integrity across the entire fence line.

Gravel Boards

Concrete gravel boards were installed at ground level between each post, creating a protective barrier that prevents the wooden panels from direct contact with soil and moisture. This design feature significantly extends the lifespan of the wooden panels.

The gravel boards are positioned slightly above ground level to prevent water accumulation whilst still providing complete boundary coverage. This elevation also makes maintenance easier and prevents vegetation from growing against the wooden panels.

Treated Fence Panels

High-quality wooden treated panels were selected for their durability and attractive appearance. The pressure-treated timber has been specially processed to resist rot, decay and insect damage, making sure the panels maintain their structural integrity for many years.

The panels were carefully measured and fitted to create a seamless boundary that provides privacy and security for the property. Each panel was securely attached to the concrete posts using appropriate fixings designed for long-term performance.

Weather Resilience

The treated panels offer excellent resistance to weather conditions including rain, frost, and UV exposure. The treatment process penetrates deep into the wood fibres, providing protection from the inside out rather than just surface coating.

New Fencing Benefits

Durability & Longevity

This fencing system combines the best aspects of different materials to create a boundary that will last for decades. The concrete posts and gravel boards provide permanent structural support, whilst the wooden panels offer privacy.

Low Maintenance Requirements

The concrete elements require virtually no maintenance, whilst the treated wooden panels need occasional cleaning to maintain their appearance. The gravel boards prevent the common problem of panel rot at ground level, which is the most frequent cause of fence failure.

This design eliminates the need for regular post replacement, which is typically required every 10-15 years with traditional wooden post systems. The concrete posts will remain structurally sound for the lifetime of the property.

Project Completion

The completed fencing provides the customer with a secure, attractive boundary that complements their property whilst requiring minimal ongoing maintenance. The professional installation guarantees that the fence will perform effectively for many years to come.

The customer was delighted with the finished result, particularly noting the clean lines and robust construction. The new fencing has transformed the property's boundary whilst providing improved security and privacy for the garden area.
