At Joe Taylor Gardening Services, we recently completed a fencing job in Aspley, Nottingham that involved removing an existing conifer boundary and replacing it with a strong, low-maintenance fencing solution. The job was carried out to improve both privacy and security for the homeowner, resulting in a clean and durable finish that will last for years to come.
The first stage of the project involved removing a long line of conifer trees that previously acted as a natural boundary. While these trees had offered some screening in the past, they had grown out of control and were beginning to cause problems. Their roots were interfering with the garden’s layout and they were becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
We safely removed all the conifers, including the root systems where required, making space for a new fence line. The removal not only opened up the garden but also gave the homeowner the opportunity to install a more structured and low-maintenance boundary solution.
With the space cleared, we supplied and fitted a complete fencing system designed to offer strength and longevity. The fence was constructed using 6ft panels mounted on top of 1ft concrete gravel boards, resulting in an overall height of 7ft. This added height gave the client additional privacy while remaining within permitted development limits.
Gravel boards serve an important purpose by lifting the wooden panels off the ground, meaning they are less exposed to moisture and soil contact. This helps to prevent rot and prolongs the lifespan of the panels. We used heavy-duty concrete gravel boards for this project, guaranteeing a long-lasting and solid base.
To complete the fencing, we used concrete fence posts to support each section. These posts are highly durable and provide excellent stability, making them ideal for fencing in exposed or windy areas. Once installed, they require no maintenance and offer a long service life compared to timber alternatives.
The fence posts were set securely in the ground using concrete foundations, making sure they could support the full height and weight of the panels and gravel boards. The end result was a robust structure that looks smart and will stand up to the elements for many years.
This garden fencing installation in Aspley gave us the opportunity to deliver a straightforward, effective fencing solution that meets the needs of the homeowner. By removing the conifers and installing a 7ft gravel board fencing system, we helped to create a boundary that is both private and practical.
The client was pleased with the clean, tidy appearance and the reduced maintenance the new fencing solution provides. We always enjoy seeing the transformation from overgrown boundaries to structured, finished fencing - and this project was no exception.
